Experimenting...

So, over the summer my photography teacher at Columbia showed us www.iwanexstudio.com. It's a celebrity retouching company, and they have some before and after portraits and such on their website. So, then I found out we don't have school tomorrow, and I tried to retouch a picture of myself a little bit. Just trying some stuff out, I guess... whatever. Here's the before and after.

Baby

this baby was just chillin behind the counter at me and my dad's favorite gyro spot, Fattoush. He was just giggling and laughing and screaming and playing with a tape measure the whole time we were there.

Then, last night, I had really really super weird dreams about trying to take care of babies. I think I'd rather just take their pictures (in their natural environment) (not like Anne Geddis).

Ping

The Hume Fogg Ping Pong Club recently challenged some Chinese educators who were visiting our school to a couple Ping Pong matches. It was undoubtedly my favorite sporting event ever.

Brittain's Senior Pictures

I come with the added bonus of not airbrushing your face or whitening your teeth. I'm willing to take anyones senior pictures, if anyone's interested in me.

Even you, Anna Lee! I know you are so happy to see that I updated! So maybe you would like to be in an update! har har har.

Any way, it was really cool taking Brittains. I've taken for granted how nice it is when the person you're photographing is allowed to react to the fact that you're photographing him/her.

...Photography is cool.

I haven't touched my camera in days, which is terrible. But, this happened a little while ago. I just wanted to show it off...

Study Lunch

Ian, Ben, and Jake were in serious panic mode during lunch today. There was a notebook check in their calculus class, and I will just say that Ben bought a binder yesterday and leave the rest of the unbelievable procrastination up to your imagination. At Hume-Fogg, we eat lunch on the floor, so the study environment is just kind of crazy... So I tried to make a little story about it, and here it is.

Also, in regards to these boys, and my school as a whole, I have to say that I am really lucky and thankful to be surrounded by people who let me do my thing, and don't freak out about it. If I haven't made it clear how grateful I am of that, I hope I have now. It makes all the difference in the world to be surrounded by willing and understanding people.

Tutoring

This afternoon I went to an apartment complex near Charlotte and White Bridge to take some pictures of a tutoring program for young African Refugees. Most of the kids are in middle school, but read and speak English on a first or second grade level. To be honest, I got so caught up with the kids that I spent the majority of my time pretending that I knew how to do long division to help a boy named Richard.

Happenings

A raccoon eats the cat food in my mom's backyard, and Josh drove for 13 hours today, and I am disgusted by something, and the light when I woke up at Ruby's was awesome. Life is great, all in all. I'm in love and not the least bit worried, it's the last year of high school and my future is every where I look... which is breath-taking.
